Outdoor Movie Night Tips
Enjoy the excitement and fun of the movies under the stars. Outdoor movie parties bring a little bit of that nostalgic drive-in movie magic to your backyard. All you'll need is a few basic supplies and a little imagination to transform your backyard into an outdoor theater. First, you'll need to set up your theater. There are several options available from inflatable movie screens to outdoor rated TVs. If high tech isn’t your style, you could even take the white sheet and projector route. Once you have the screen taken care of, you'll want to set up some comfy seating for your guests. Start with several outdoor area rugs and throw pillows on the ground to create a relaxed atmosphere. Next, add some elevated seating options in the back so everyone has a clear view of the screen. Pick a movie perfect for the setting. A classic like The Wizard Of Oz, Grease or Mary Poppins always goes over well. And no movie theater would be complete without the concessions. Arrange a popcorn bar with assorted candies and toppings on a pretty serving cart and provide paper snack boxes so guests can create their own mixes. For drinks, fill a large beverage cooler with ice and glass-bottled soda or serve up homemade slushies that can be adult or kid friendly. When the sun goes down and the movie starts, the backyard will be fairly dark. Arrange path lights to illuminate a route from the viewing area to the snack table so guests can see to easily get refills.
